robertRobert Berry will be working with skilled and masterful contemporary artists promoting their work, and placing them in exhibitions, private, public, and corporate collections. His areas of specialty encompass modern and post-war American art, abstract painting and sculpture by artists at mid-century, as well as contemporary painting.

He will offer a variety of services to clients interested in purchasing quality works of art including:

  • Identifying and executing a collecting or single-purchase buying strategy
  • Sourcing works of art at auction, galleries and from artists and dealers
  • Researching and analyzing market price and long-term value of each piece
  • Recommending purchases of artwork appropriate to each collector
  • Coordinating purchases and completing transactions on behalf of clients
  • Experienced as a gallerist since 2006, he has held directorships at two New York galleries. At Galerie Richard he focused on emerging and mid-career artists, effectively promoting Takesada Matsuani, Ron Gorchov, Bram Bogart, Kiyoshi Nakagami, David Ryan, and William Bradley. Earlier, at Galerie Icosahedron, he found promising young talent including Ned Martin, Matt Roe, John Ruby, Jonathon Blake, and Ronald Gosses. He exhibited them with established artists such as Judy Chicago and Shepard Fairey to garner media attention for their work. His first curatorial position was at DLC Fine Art, which cumulated with a two-man retrospective of works by Joseph Beuys and David Kastner.

    Robert is a gallerist, consultant, and curator who received his M.A. in Art History and Criticism from Brooklyn College where he focused on post-war American painters, particularly Larry Poons, Jack Whitten, Lynda Benglis, and James Rosenquist.
